Assurance supports two-factor authentication (2FA) using Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator or any other soft token authenticator app.
We recommend setting up Single Sign-On (SSO) which allows organisations to deploy 2FA via their Identity Provider (IdP). If your organisation does not have SSO, you can set up 2FA in Assurance.
Please Note: In order to use this feature, all Users will need to have the authenticator app installed on their phones.
This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to:
- Set Up Two Factor Authentication in Assurance
- Register Two-Factor Authentication as a User
- Reset Two Factor Authentication
To Set Up Two Factor Authentication in Assurance
1. Click the Gear in the top menu
2. Click the Organisation button
3. Click the Edit button
4. Scroll down to the Sign On & Security section
5. Tick the checkbox beneath the option Require two-factor authentication for login
Important Note: The Require two-factor authentication for login option will not appear if you have selected any of the SSO options.

To Register Two-Factor Authentication as a User
Now when your users next try and log into Assurance they will need to complete the following steps to register two-factor authentication
1. A QR code will be displayed on a new webpage, scan the QR code with your preferred authentication app.
2. Enter the code that the app provides you into the text box beneath Two-factor authentication code
3. Click the Register with two-factor authenticator button
4. A success message will be displayed once the two-factor code has been verified and you have signed into Assurance.
Note: Once this is setup, every time the user logs-in they will need to enter the Code from the authentication app that they have registered with.
To Reset Two Factor Authentication
Important Note: The following actions can only be performed by a Super User
To reset the two-factor authentication for a User, if they lose access to the authentication app that they have registered with.
1. Click the Gear in the top menu
2. Click the Users button
3. Locate the user you would like to reset two-factor authentication for and click their Name
4. Click the Tools button
5. Select Reset Two-Factor Authentication from the dropdown menu
Note: The User will then need to go through the steps detailed in this section of the guide before they can log in.
6. Select the Confirm button on the Reset Two-Factor Authentication pop-up modal that appears
